ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated person who is looking to use their strong administrative and management skills for the next step in their career. Your role will be varied running a busy retail store and coordinating the operation of the University of Sydney Food Hub.
You will work closely with the Area Manager to ensure necessary functions are carried out correctly and with efficiency, while overseeing and developing a small team of retail team members. This role also works closely with University stakeholders to ensure the Food Hub is running to its fullest potential.
You will be responsible for ensuring a productive store, delivering above and beyond service, and an exemplary in-store experience. You will also be responsible for inventory control, visual merchandising, outlet presentation, visitor registration and business reporting
It is essential that candidates be available Monday to Friday, between 7am to 6pm, have the right to work in Australia up to 38 hrs per week and have a valid Working With Children Check.
No Christmas rush or public holidays, and excellent additional benefits including meals provided and membership in our loyalty program round out this role with all of the pros of retail but none of the negatives.

We are a not-for-profit organisation focused on students at the University of Sydney. The revenue we generate through our operations is used to support students and create experiences they will remember for a lifetime. You will be playing an integral role by assisting our operations to run smoothly.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Manage the USYD Food Hub
Rostering and resource allocation to meet demands
Accurate inventory control, including maintain levels of critical stock
Identifying issues through regular stocktakes and effective shrinkage control
Team development and delegation through effective communication and coaching
Coordinate the running of the University of Sydney Food Hub
Liaise with suppliers
Manage internal and external client relationships
Guest and ticket registration
Outlet reporting
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
2+ years’ previous management experience in a fast-paced retail or hospitality environment
2+ years’ previous demonstrated management experience of at least 5 staff
Previous experience ordering stock and effectively managing stock levels
Ability to coach and mentor staff to achieve set training and development needs
Demonstrated understanding of excellent customer service and high level of verbal and written communication skills
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills/experience in using a complex point of sale system
Ability to work effectively both as an individual or as part of a team
Proactive approach to work
Ability to set priorities and establish objectives and milestones
Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise initiative
Working with Children Check (WWCC)
DESIRABLE SKILLS
Tertiary qualifications in catering and/or hospitality management
Current Food Safety Certificate
A commitment to and understanding of the Union, its roles and relationship to the University
A general knowledge of industrial and Work Health and Safety legislation
Current full driver’s license where applicable
Understanding of HACCP procedures or food safety programs
HOURS OF WORK
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday – may include some weekends and nights as dictated by business requirements. No public holidays, two weeks shut down between Christmas and New Year.
