THE TEAM
Citeline’s Pharma Insights are a suite of six specialized, subscription-only news and analysis products for the pharmaceutical, medtech and associated industries. Our global editorial team of 50+ journalists are based in seven countries across Europe, Asia and North America. This role is to oversee editorial content and associated activities for In Vivo, which provides in-depth, analytical features covering key issues affecting the biopharma and medtech sectors. You will oversee the work of two reporters on In Vivo (based in the UK and Canada), commission and edit contributions from freelancers around the world and work closely with colleagues from other publications, who provide additional content for In Vivo. You will also work on projects with our data journalist. You will report to the editor-in-chief of Commercial Insights.
SCOPE OF ROLE
In this role as Interim Executive Editor, you will:
- Commission freelance content one to two months ahead of publishing need
- Commission articles from the wider editorial team, particularly for themed months
- Select content for use on In Vivo from sister publications
- Plan publishing schedule for each month, content to be signed off daily Mon-Thurs
- Edit 20-25 articles per month
- Load external content into Sitecore
- Write 2-3 articles per month, filing schedule gaps where needed
- Take the lead on content planning and production for Outlook 2025
- Update the website homepage weekly
- Prepare curated emails
- Share social media content
- Manage free-to-access content
In addition, you will have the following management responsibilities:
- Editorial Line management of 2 colleagues
- Set objectives for direct reports and review throughout the year
- Lead weekly team meetings, including wider editorial team members when needed
- Arrange fortnightly 1-2-1 catch up calls
- Approve holiday time and expenses
- Plan travel and conference coverage
- Feedback information from senior editor meetings
- Provide monthly highlights to EIC
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED
- Ensure weekly email alerts are delivered on time on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Produce approx. 30 pieces of content each month
- Curate Essential Insights and Monthly Highlights emails
- Publish monthly features on time: EOTM, deals in depth, deals shaping the industry, BioBytes, Podcast
- Publish quarterly features on time: Q stats dealmaking, Q stats financing
- Oversee special content: Outlook 2025, Deals of the Year January 2025, Rising Leaders April 2025
- Lead team through transition to new publishing system
- Maintain high quality content and build on In Vivo’s presence within the industry
WHAT IT TAKES
- Experience in health care publishing
- Experience leading a team of journalists
- Relevant degree in communication or biopharma
- Experience using MS Office, Teams and Virtual Management Tools
