These positions are advertised as an opportunity for either a Medical Grade or an Agenda for Change Grade to encompass the prospect of applications from differing professional backgrounds and has therefore been advertised in both Medical and AfC TRAC systems.

We are seeking two dynamic, self-motivated and passionate people with experience of working in CAMHS services and/or as a CAMHS commissioner or within a local authority to jointly lead the SLP Complex Case workstream. As it is essential for the postholders to have strong working relationships with key clinical and operational leaders within the SLP geography, candidates will need a current or recent knowledge of CAMHS services in south London. You will bring together clinicians and service leads to develop partnership working and service change across services for children and young people with the most complex presentations. You will support the strategic and operational development of the workstream as well as consistent and accessible service pathways ensuring that these support and maintain achievement of excellent clinical and quality outcomes for the children and young people in South London. You will report to the SLP Clinical Director as well as working with other Workstream Leads on overlapping objectives and to ensure that work across the programme is aligned. The role offers an interesting opportunity to develop approaches/skills of working in both a provider and commissioner role.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team supporting the continued development of partnership working and service change across SLP CAMHS. This role will focus on supporting CYP with Learning Disabilities (LD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or with highly complex support needs that are impacting on their care. The ambition is that a Local Authority representative will share leadership of this workstream given the importance of multiagency working in supporting CYP in scope. The post would suit someone who has experience of working with CYP with LD and ASD who has the enthusiasm and passion to bring together a multi-agency group to develop and maintain high quality and accessible services for children and young people. You will be an excellent communicator and able to build effective internal and external networks to ensure that pathways are efficient and consistent with the SLP aims. This role will suit an individual who has the drive and enthusiasm to support change and developing new frameworks for partnership working in a complex, dynamic environment.

The South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP):

The South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP) is a collaboration between Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, (Oxleas) South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, (SLaM), and South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) between them delivering mental health services to a population of more than three million people. The partnership brings together clinical expertise, experience, and innovation, aiming to improve quality, use resources most effectively, and deliver best practice consistently to all patients. Since its inception, the SLP has been a resilient and effective partnership that has improved patient experience, introduced innovation, and developed new services across the 12 boroughs of south London.

The CAMHS Programme:
Working in partnership to deliver CAMHS since 2017, in 2020 SLP were successful in their application to become a CAMHS Provider Collaborative. Our ambition is for all children and young people in south London to have consistent, equal access to the very best mental health services. We strive to provide responsive, flexible and appropriate community support and interventions to avoid A&E attendance and admissions. Mental health services should be joined-up, logical and accessible to patients and their families/carers at all stages.

Key aspects of the roles which will include but are not limited to: –

Bringing together a core group of professionals from the services included in the pathways for regular meetings and to lead these meetings. This will include engaging stakeholders from other agencies such as Local Authority, Education, Paediatrics etc.

Supporting the continued development of partnership working that promotes multi-disciplinary engagement in the transformation of clinical services.

Develop and maintain credibility with all key stakeholders within the partnership community, fostering a culture of collaboration for the delivery of equitable, high quality care. At times this will include acting as an ‘honest broker’ reconciling conflicting views and interests.

Providing senior Workstream Leadership, liaising with colleagues within the SLP Partnership Commissioning and Development Hub (PCaDH), community services and Tier 4 to ensure high quality outcomes and pathway efficiency.

Fostering a culture of multi-professional engagement in the improvement of care across integrated pathways for the CAMHS partnership. This will include collaborating and engaging with clinical colleagues to develop and deliver ambitious programmes of quality improvement across the partnership.

Fostering and promoting a culture of clinical engagement and influence ensuring the partnership initiatives and services are clinically led. This includes developing links with CAMH services that sit outside the Provider Collaborative remit but are critical to developing effective pathways and way of working across service Tiers.

Developing a framework for the workstream that supports review of referrals, pathway flow and waiting lists including any common themes/issues resulting in delays to discharge.

Working with colleagues to support the development of consistent service and clinical outcomes and share learning.

Supporting the identification of key issues, successes, risks or problems

Identifying gaps in services

Identifying and developing innovations (shared from individual team’s initiatives or developed across South London) to improve services, NICE compliance etc. This may sometimes entail championing new initiatives or pilots to build an evidence base for new approaches that can help achieve the aims of accessible care, close to home and in the least restrictive setting.

Promoting the systematic application of quality frameworks and using evidence base and analytics to inform quality improvements.

Ensuring that workstream activities under the Leads purview are conducted in compliance with all confidentiality and governance requirements within the partnership.
