The UEC improvement programme covers a number of key work areas with the aim of ensuring an equitable offer across SEL with patients receiving safe care in the most appropriate environment without unnecessary delay. For patients who require a hospital admission we work to ensure they do not remain in a hospital bed for longer than necessary, but rather receive a safe and timely transfer of care or discharge home.
The Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Improvement Clinical Lead for SEL is expected to work with multiple services, stakeholders and providers across the SEL footprint as well as represent the ICS at London-wide discussions. The post holder will work collaboratively with the ICB Urgent & Emergency Care Improvement team, as well as other clinical leads supporting the urgent and emergency care programmes of work.

Strategic overview of the urgent & emergency care improvement programmes of work across the ICS, focussing on SDEC, by:
- Act as a clinical advocate and strategic partner with NHSE regional SDEC initiatives on behalf of SEL
- Strategic overview of the urgent & emergency care SDEC improvement programme of work across the ICS.
- Clinical leadership of SDEC projects across SEL including local delivery of national initiatives being implemented by the ICS.
- Provision of specialist knowledge and experience of improvement implementation to the UEC SDEC improvement programme
- Specialist clinical advice and guidance to SDEC units across SEL in order to develop and improve SEL SDEC provision
