About us.

PA is the UK’s leading national news agency, supplying journalism to every newsroom in the country.

With more than 150 years’ experience of newsgathering and content creation, we have an unrivalled reputation for being fast, fair and accurate.

About the role.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced storyteller and sub-editor to work on a client project. The right candidate will join a team of UK-based content creators telling compelling stories for a large audience. The candidate in this role will prioritise delivering impeccably crafted copy.

The candidate will form part of an Operations Internal Communications team of 100+ communicators across Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Middle East/North Africa.

About you.

  • You have a passion for storytelling and driving culture through clear, compelling, concise writing, video storytelling, and multi-channel execution. You can turn raw ideas, random observations, and your own curiosity into cohesive narratives.
  • You have a strong knowledge of English grammar, usage, and AP Style, and can flawlessly apply them to your writing.
  • You write irresistibly clickable headlines, paying particular attention to this part of your craft.
  • You are curious, showcasing an ability to unearth and tell human stories that establish emotional connections.
  • You have a passion for telling stories visually.
  • You are a team player who seeks the expertise of colleagues and subject matter experts to hone messages on behalf of your audience.

The successful candidate will approach the role with a strong audience focus – think mobile first – using readership data to guide their work. This role’s responsibilities include sub editing of colleagues’ work before publication on owned channels in addition to creating written and visual content.

**Portfolio of three to five published writing samples is required – please use the cover letter options in the application form**

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience as a writer or copy editor focused on internal communications that map back to business objectives.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple deliverables at one time to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed work environment, taking leading projects and deliverables among varied stakeholders.
  • Expertise creating content for audiences on a range of digital channels, including social media platforms.
  • Experience working virtually with teams around the globe, as well as managing external partners.

  • 5 weeks holiday in addition to 8 public holidays (pro-rata)
  • Enhanced pay for maternity, paternity and adoption leave
  • Cycle 2 work scheme
