The on call pattern for consultants is going through a consultation process at present and there is possible changes in the on call pattern anticipated upon its completion. The successful candidate will have a change in the on call pattern when this is implemented.
The Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC) will take place on 18th June 2024
The appointee will provide a high quality Obstetrics and Gynaecology service, in conjunction with consultant colleagues already in post. It would be expected that the consultant offers continuous responsibility for the care of patients named under their team.
Whilst this post is initially and primarily based at the West Middlesex site, all appointments may require cross-site working to varying degrees.
In particular we are looking for a colleague to support the Multidisciplinary Obstetric Simulation (MOMS), Antenatal services, Rapid Access clinics, gynaecology theatres and Outpatient hysteroscopy services. These services are already established and the successful candidate will have an opportunity to develop these specialist services further.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate an active interest in the management of high risk women in obstetrics and acute gynaecology problems as well. It is expected that the successful individual will provide a unified multidisciplinary approach to the care of women in rapid access clinics, outpatient hysteroscopy services and providing Advice and guidance for gynaecology referrals (A&G).
There will be dedicated time for teaching medical students (tutorials, ward, clinic and theatre based learning) and for post graduate teaching and training (Friday post graduate afternoons are statutory sessions for all staff). Regular audits will be required and supervision for Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) undertaken by the trainees. Involvement in general management and committee work for the hospital will also be encouraged.
The Department has weekly educational meetings at which cases are reviewed and discussed and, audits are presented The Directorate holds monthly Consultant meetings, Gynaecology and Perinatal morbidity and mortality meetings and Maternity Forum.
The post holder will have secretarial support from a senior patient administrator shared between other Consultants. The appointee will have a desk in a shared office with access to a computer.
