Sustainability Consultant – LCA
London
Up to £50k
Hybrid Working

A renowned and innovative engineering consultancy, specialising in sustainable design and environmental solutions is looking for a Sustainability Consultant specialising in Lifecycle Carbon Analysis to join their team.
With over 50 years of experience, they are committed to creating a more sustainable and energy-efficient built environment. Their diverse team of experts collaborate on cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of sustainable design, striving to make a positive impact on our planet’s future.

The role
Their sustainability team is at the forefront of delivering lifecycle carbon, circular economy, and net zero carbon services within the industry. They believe that delivering real sustainable change means tailoring analysis and advice to influence the specific design on a given project. The team also leads on building performance advice, and wellbeing and sustainability strategies and assessment.
This role specialises in lifecycle carbon analysis and net zero carbon but may also involve carrying out other consultancy work, depending on your skillset and interest. This could include guiding the sustainability requirements of planning applications, or developing and delivering project sustainability strategies, from inception through to hand over.
Working across multiple high profile and ambitious projects, the lifecycle carbon analysis consultant will collaborate with engineers and share knowledge both within the practice and externally, having the opportunity to engage with industry discussion on relevant issues.

About You

  • You will have experience of carrying out lifecycle carbon analysis.
  • Mechanical or electrical engineering experience or an architectural background, would be if particular interest.
  • An output focused, analytical, and engaged approach is important for this role.
  • Excellent verbal and written/graphic communication skills, complemented by the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • You will have strong organisational skills and be able to set clear expectations for the output needed from others within a given time scale.
  • Have a good understanding of construction delivery and of how sustainable outcomes can be achieved on different project types.
  • Good team working skills and enjoy developing lasting relationships with clients, collaborators, and colleagues.

Essential experience

  • Significant experience within the construction industry in either sustainability consultancy, architectural or MEP engineering design
  • A good understanding of construction materials/ building services
  • Knowledge of sustainable and net zero carbon design
  • Experience of undertaking lifecycle carbon analysis and circular economy/supply chain engagement
  • Experience of structuring and writing design reports
  • Experience of managing multiple projects
  • Experience in a client, design team or contractor facing role

Desirable experience

  • Engagement with the issues and possible solutions for designing buildings for a circular economy, including a working understanding of the issues presented by building reuse and designing for circularity
  • Significant expertise in technical and manufacturing and construction stages
  • Experience of the whole construction process
  • Being able to prepare bids and fee proposals
  • Graphic design skills
  • Setting and delivering sustainability strategies and processes for new projects or portfolios
  • Knowledge of BREEAM or other environmental assessment methods such as Home Quality Mark or LEED
  • Experience of WELL, Fitwel and other experience of designing for Wellbeing
  • Experience of developing bespoke sustainability frameworks
  • Experience of workshop facilitation
  • Being a Chartered Environmentalist/Engineer/Architectural Technologist/Architect
  • Being a qualified BREEAM Assessor or AP
